Colby Covington Talks Potential Bout With Khabib Nurmagomedov

Colby Covington is controversial, to say the least. However, now the former UFC Interim Welterweight Champion is looking for a catchweight bout with UFC Lightweight Champ Khabib Nurmagomedov.

Colby went on Submission Radio to discuss the potential match between the two. Although Khabib is undefeated in 27 professional bouts, using his elite sambo experience to overwhelm everybody. Colby is not intimidated by Khabib though, saying how easy he believes a match would be.

“Yeah i mean it’s an easy fight. he’s already asking to fight georges st-pierre in between welterweight and lightweight. i can make in between welterweight and lightweight because i’m not a big welterweight. it’s going to be more rewarding to smash two of Ali’s biggest clients and just leave him crying.”

Colby was referring to Ali Abdelaziz, manager to both Khabib, and Welterweight champ Kamaru Usman. Covington had a recent altercation with Kamaru, and Ali.

Colby would go on to talk about how easy a fight with Khabib would be. He compared his grappling resume to Khabib’s.

“he would be my easiest challenge. he’s small and he doesn’t even do what i do as good as i do it. he can’t wrestle as good as me. he’s never faced a high-level Division 1 All-american, a kid who has been wrestling his whole life. that sambo s–t, that s–t’s weak. if wrestling was easy, it would be called sambo. but it’s not, it’s called wrestling.”

Colby Covington is looking for a fight with newly crowned champ Kamaru Usman. Khabib however, is likely going to be facing the winner of the upcoming interim title match between Max Holloway and Dustin Poirier. So it seems a bout between these two may be far away.
