Italian Fighter Christian Daghio Passed Away Following Brutal KO Loss!

49-Year-Old Italian Boxer Christian Daghio Died After WBC Asia Title Match Knockout In The Final Round!

Christian Daghio was an example of a man who remained blindly dedicated to his goal until the last moment. Despite his age, he was always trying to go higher. He was constantly improving his skills. This former legend competed in boxing, Muay Thai, and even MMA.

He was Muay Thai World Champion seven times. Christian Daghio was also 2 times Asian Boxing Champion WBA and ABF and 1 time International Boxing Champion WBF. The Italian fighting superstar died after brutal KO in the 12th round of the WBC Asian Boxing Council.

Christian Daghio fought Don Pareuang on October 26th. The referee stopped the fight after Daghio fell on the floor for the first time after the amazing right straight punch in the 12th round. But the Italian stood up almost immediately. His opponent started attacking with the flurry of hooks. Brutal right hand sent 49-year-old to the ground for the second time. Unfortunately, he was unable to stand up. He simply went down and there was no movement at all. The back of his head hit the canvas hard!

Medical staff tried to treat him inside the ring. Yet, he was taken to the hospital. Christian Daghio lost the battle after two days in a coma. His brother Fabrizio spoke to the Italian press. Here is the official statement. (via metro.co.uk)

“He died as he wanted to die,” Daghio’s brother, Fabrizio, told Il Resto del Carlino. “I have no regrets because he was like that, he said he wanted to fight until he was 80. The ring was his life and he died as a champion. My brother had a girlfriend in Thailand and a five-year-old girl.”

Christian Daghio had more than 200 fights in his career. He competed in MMA once in 2009 and he was defeated via decision. The Italian legend was also a coach at Kombat Group Thailand. He followed his dreams all the time. You can take a look at the full fight video below.
