Consider Michael Chandler and Eddie Alvarez in for another fight against each other.

The former foes have met inside the cage twice before, with Chandler beating Alvarez the first time back in 2011 and then ‘The Underground King’ taking revenge in 2013. Almost a decade later, both lightweight rivals wouldn’t mind running it back inside the UFC Octagon.

Chandler Loves The Idea

With Alvarez now a free agent after his unlucky stint in ONE Championship, Chandler sees some potential in the long-awaited trilogy fight.

“Eddie and I have got some history,” Chandler said at the UFC 281 post-fight presser, following his submission loss to Dustin Poirier. “Eddie and I have made some magic in there. Eddie was a former UFC champion. I would love to see him come back here and get thrown back into the mix, and there ain’t no way that he and I are not fighting if he comes back to the UFC. So, I love the idea of that fight.”

Round 3

Like his fellow Bellator champion, Alvarez would also express interest in the matchup, citing it’s what the fans what.

“Hey brother @MikeChandlerMMA @ufc I Think it’s time for round 3. Rest up Champ then give these Fans what they want.”

White’s Not Really Interested

However, there is one obstacle standing in front of a third fight between the former foes: Dana White. The UFC President is looking towards the future and is not so much into revisiting the past.

“Eddie hit me up a couple days ago. But no, we haven’t had any serious conversations,” White said at the UFC 281 post-fight presser. “I think that Eddie is at a point in his career where you know, we’re always trying to bring in young, up-and-coming guys that hopefully could be world champions some day. That’s what we really look for.”

Will we ever see Michael Chandler and Eddie Alvarez collide again?
