Chael Sonnen thinks Francis Ngannou has become a joke in the boxing world, at least to Tyson Fury.
At this time last year, Francis Ngannou was one of the biggest stars on the UFC roster. He had just defended his UFC heavyweight title for the first time and was plotting his future. Since then, he has decided to leave the UFC in search of more lucrative opportunities, none of which have panned out yet. Ngannou wants the freedom to move between MMA and boxing fluidly. He has been in talks with some of the biggest names in boxing, but it is unclear if he is getting closer to a bout.
Recently one man who Ngannou is targeting, Tyson Fury made a joke at Ngannou’s expense. He served up an April Fool’s Day prank stating that he had an agreement to face Ngannou, which was of course was false. Chael Sonnen thinks this is a bad look for Ngannou and is now urging him to return to the UFC.

Chael Sonnen is urging Francis Ngannou to call Dana White and return to the UFC
Sonnen had been keeping a close eye on the Ngannou situation. He has made several videos on his YouTube channel about what he believes Ngannou should do next and how he feels as if a mistake was made. Now while speaking to MMA Junkie Sonnen expresses his ongoing concern for Ngannou and his place in the boxing world.
“Let’s put this in perspective, this is a very big deal. Three days ago was April 1 and they put an April 1 joke. Tyson Fury put out an April 1 joke on social media that he and Francis was done in their fighting at Wimbley on May 15. Tyson Fury made a joke, Francis has changed his whole life. He’s got this whole movement, his whole life is different because he thought he was gonna go make up a sport and do it with a guy who’s now using it as an April Fool’s joke. Whatever has happened here, he’s got to get some cold water. He’s got to wake up and he needs to call back his boss.”
Ngannou has been in talks with several other fight promotions including BKFC and PFL. Recently BKFC president David Feldman came out and said Ngannou was asking for an “unrealistic” amount. It seems that Ngannou has a plan in his head for his career and is not willing to settle. He has also explained in the past that returning to the UFC is not in the cards.
