Brian Ortega Is Willing To Save UFC 229 If Khabib Nurmagomedov Or Conor McGregor Pull Out

Brian Ortega Is Ready To Step In As UFC 229 Last-Minute Replacement If Something Happens To Khabib Nurmagomedov Or Conor McGregor

Conor McGregor was already trolling Khabib Nurmagomedov about potential pulling out of their UFC 229 showdown. Let’s remember, Khabib was claimed medically unfit for the fight versus Tony Ferguson at UFC 209. He got sick because of a brutal weight cut. Yet, The Notorious has never missed weight. He even accepted the fight on a short notice versus Chad Mendes at UFC 189 on July 11, 2015, and won the match!

Brian Ortega is ready to save the event. Ortega said he would gladly step in as the last-minute replacement if something happens to Conor or Khabib. Yet, Brian Ortega doesn’t have big expectations. (via bloodyelbow.com)

“I always stay ready,” Ortega said. “There’s a lot of money on the line for that one and I doubt someone’s gonna get injured – I’ll be honest with you. But, I’ve been wrong many times, so, who knows? But I’m sure I’m in line; I’m sure there’s a lot of other fighters in line. But, yea, I’d definitely jump in if something happened.”

“These are the kinda fights that I’ll step in on last minute to save the card. Not no other fights like the last situation we had, where they wanted me to fight that clown,” Ortega said about his refusal to fight Jeremy Stephens as a last minute replacement for Max Holloway at UFC 226.

It would be really crazy if Khabib or Conor pull out. After all, this is the biggest fight in the history of this sport. The greatest number of PPV (pay-per-view) buys has already been sold. And there is a big question whether UFC is ready to accept Brian Ortega on a short notice. Tony Ferguson would probably have more chances. After all, his fight versus The Eagle was scheduled four times, but it never happened!

Conor McGregor and Khabib Nurmagomedov will face on Saturday night at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. Brian Ortega is slated for the match versus Max Holloway at UFC 231 on December 8, 2018, for the UFC Featherweight title. He has already been set for Max Holloway showdown at UFC 226 on July 7, 2018. Unfortunately, The Blessed was claimed medically unfit.

Do you believe Khabib Nurmagomedov will pass the scale? If he misses the weight, it would be one of the biggest disasters in the history of UFC! Would you like to see Brian Ortega fighting Conor McGregor?
