Brendan Schaub is confident that Francis Ngannou would knock out Jon Jones after seeing ‘The Predator’ nearly beat Tyson Fury in a boxing match.
Before fighting ‘The Gypsy King,’ Ngannou was re-negotiating with the UFC while a legendary super-fight against Jon Jones was being discussed. The hypothetical matchup has been debated endlessly, and Ngannou’s impressive professional boxing debut added a new element.
During a video on his YouTube channel, former UFC heavyweight Brendan Schaub had this to say about Fury vs. Ngannou affecting his prediction for Fury vs. Jones in MMA:
“Who’s going to beat him, Jon Jones? I’m on record saying this: I thought Jon Jones would smoke Francis after watching him do what he did against Ciryl Gane. Watching Francis vs. Fury, I’m like, ‘Oh, he’d beat Jon.’ He’d beat Jon in MMA. I think he knocks him out.” – Transcribed by MMA Junkie
Brendan Schaub continued by praising Francis Ngannou for exceeding expectations against Tyson Fury:
“I didn’t realize how good he was. I knew he was good, but I didn’t realize he was this talented. I knew he was a freak athletically, but I didn’t know he was world-class-boxing-beat-the-breaks-off-the-greatest-of-all-time good. Who did? This is nuts.” – Transcribed by MMA Junkie
Brendan Schaub claims the “UFC messed up” for not closing the deal in Francis Ngannou negotiations
Francis Ngannou requested various stipulations in his proposed contract to the UFC, including sponsorship freedom, health insurance, and a fighter advocate at UFC board meetings. Dana White and company weren’t willing to make the deal happen, leading to Ngannou signing with PFL.
During the previously mentioned YouTube video, Brendan Schaub claimed the UFC made a mistake by not accepting Ngannou’s requests:
“UFC messed up. Jon is out, Stipe is waiting for Jon and those two are going to retire, that’s a legendary fight… But the greatest heavyweight is not in the UFC. The greatest heavyweight at boxing and mixed martial arts is not in the UFC. Who’s going to beat Francis?” – Transcribed by MMA Junkie
Francis Ngannou has launched a new chapter in his fighting career. Over the next few years, Ngannouis is expected to secure several massive paydays in MMA and boxing, with the added possibility of growing his legacy by challenging world-class competition.
