Bobby Green wonders why Islam Makahchev was accused of using an IV.
After Makhachev beat Alexander Volkanovski at UFC 284, Dan Hooker came out and accused the lightweight champ of taking an IV. Although there was no proof it caused a major story that Jeff Novitzky had to even comment on.
As of right now, there is still no proof that Makhachev used an IV but Green thinks it’s interesting that he heard that IVs help flush the use of PEDs.
“Why are you trying to get me to go there? You are trying to get me killed, you are trying to get me to talk that shit. So, since you are going to make me do it, I didn’t know because I don’t even know about that drug shit,” Green said at UFC Vegas 71 media day. “But, Joe Rogan said the IV bags they use that to flush PEDs, so now it’s like huh, well that’s a little interesting. Now he used an IV bag, what did he use an IV bag for? I don’t know, you tell me. So, the speculations just keep going. Somebody else called them Bobby Green’s theories so leave it as another theory.”
Green accuses Islam of using PEDs after their fight
Of course, after Bobby Green suffered a first-round ground-and-pound TKO loss to Islam Makhachev, he accuses the Dagestani native of using PEDs since he was young.
“Imagine if you gave someone steroids from the age of 10, 12, 13, 14, 15 … how strong you would be,” Green said before his fight against Drew Dober. “People are like, ‘He was really strong.’ It makes sense now. There’s two people that I’ve moved around with and I was like, that’s interesting. I’ve moved with thousands of guys, that was interesting. I told my coach, ‘There’s something interesting about Islam.’ I felt it. That’s just not human. It makes sense.”
Currently, there is no proof Makhachev is using PEDs but he was flagged earlier in his career for failing a drug test which USADA later lifted the suspension. But, Green thinks where there is smoke there is fire so isn’t ruling out Makhachev using IVs or PEDs as Hooker said.
