Let’s face it, we all sort of knew this would happen. BJ Penn was out of an opponent due to Condit being pegged in for a title shot against GSP and Nick Diaz was — being Nick Diaz. He didn’t even know what he was doing. This morning I received a phone call from a person in Hawaii who convinced me that BJ Penn would fight a catchweight bout with Gilbert Melendez at UFC 137. Of course it made no sense, so I prescribed to Cagepotato’s conspiracy theory that BJ Penn would face Nick Diaz at UFC 137. We talked to Nick Diaz today and he jokingly told us that he ‘quit MMA.’ By the afternoon, we didn’t know what to believe until Dana White made it clear on Twitter that BJ Penn will face Nick Diaz at UFC 137 as a co-main event. The 209 meets Hilo — this is going to be entertaining. It looks like we may have to update our list of ‘The Top Ten Nick Diaz Moments That Will Blow Your Mind.’
