- Anthony Smith is now ready to return to fighting following his TKO loss to Khalil Rountree
- “Lionheart” doesn’t have a target opponent and date
Anthony Smith is officially done taking some time off for himself and now wants an epic fight for his UFC return.
Anthony is looking for an exciting fight
Speaking on Believe You Me podcast with Michael Bisping, “Lionheart” revealed that he has been toning down his “boozing” as he figured he is ready to step inside the Octagon again. Smith added that he is not looking for a specific opponent but it has got to be someone that excites him.
“I’ve been trying to ease off the boozing a little bit I’m ready to fight… I’ve been trying to change my mindset a little bit, and there’s a couple things that matter. The name doesn’t really matter. How I feel about it really matters. I want something that’s exciting. And maybe, divisionally it doesn’t make sense, I don’t know. I don’t care if they’re ranked. I don’t care if they’re not ranked, ranked high. I don’t care who it is. It has got to be something that I deem as fun,” Smith said.
“I know that sounds really stupid, but like, when I hear the name, I want it to be exciting, like I want it to be like, ‘Oh, that would be fun.’ I need something that’s fun, and I want to look forward to it… The danger factor doesn’t really matter to me. I don’t care how hard the fight’s going to be. I want it to be someone that gets me excited, and I want it to be somewhere that gets me excited,” he explained.
Any given time
Smith pointed out that he is not targeting a specific date either. But if possible, he would like to be in the next London event.
“I’m less concerned with the timing. Like May or June, whatever, it doesn’t really matter… “I’m gonna send Mick Maynard a text and say, ‘Hey, whenever the next UK show is, let me know, I wanna be on it,” Smith concluded.
Smith is coming off a devastating TKO loss to Khalil Rountree at UFC Vegas 83. Nevertheless, “Lionheart” is still in the light heavyweight division’s Top 10 and it wouldn’t be a shock if he gets booked for a match in no time.
