Andre Lima decided to have a tattoo on the exact area where Igor Severino bit him at UFC Vegas 89.

A brilliant idea to remember his win

UFC newcomer Severino made waves in the sport for all the wrong reasons after biting Lima in their flyweight showdown at the UFC Vegas 89 prelims. Severino’s bite mark on Lima’s bicep was still very evident after the bizarre incident. To pay tribute to his win, “Mascote” rushed to a tattoo shop and have the bite mark permanently inked on his bicep.

As expected, the fight ended in a disqualification due to biting win for Lima. The incident was a first in UFC history and the company’s boss Dana White was clearly unhappy, immediately cutting Severino.

However, White was pleased by how Lima reacted to the incident and remained sport about it. In fact, the UFC boss even gave “Mascote” extra money for it which was dubbed as “I got f**king bit bonus.”

Cool but dangerous

Lima’s decision to have a tattoo on his bite mark was undeniably viewed cool and fun. However, professional fighting doctor David Abbasi said having a tattoo within a fresh bite mark could lead to infection.

“Although it’s cool in principle, it actually can be a major problem because human bites have a risk of infection. You got staph infection, strep infection, Eikenella. There’s like hundreds of millions of bacteria in a human mouth,” Abbasi said.

The unusual win saw Lima improving his undefeated pro MMA record to 8-0. By contrast, Severino was released and it’s worth noting that it was his UFC debut.
