Light Heavyweights collide in Chicago. 

Former Bellator Champion Phil Davis takes on #1 contender Corey Anderson at Bellator 297. ‘Mr. Wonderful’ will look to string three wins in a row while Anderson attempts to bounce back from his first promotional loss against champ Vadim Nemkov.

Round 1:

Anderson goes for a takedown but Davis defends it quickly. Anderson presses him against the cage and Anderson goes for another takedown which is unsuccessful as Davis reverses him. Davis grabs the back of Anderson while on the feet. Davis isn’t able to make anything happen from this position and both men separate. Anderson buckles Davis with a jab. Anderson gets his punches going, setting up his combos effectively. Anderson clinches up with Davis against the cage. Anderson tries for as takedown but Davis denies him once again. 

Anderson fires a leg kick and then takes down Davis finally. Davis gets back to his feet, getting a hold of Anderson’s back. Anderson reverses position, gets the back and drags Davis to the ground for a few seconds.

Round 2:

Anderson throws a lot of feints to begin the round. Davis tests out his kicks and jabs. Davis goes for a level change but Anderson manages to stay on his feet. Davis grabs the back of Anderson. They separate. Anderson’s combos find their target for the most part. Anderson goes into the clinch with Davis and seizes a takedown. But, Davis pops back up to his feet in no time. Anderson works the jab and adds on his cross at times. 

Davis lands a 1-2. Davis lands a knee in a momentary clinch. They scramble, looking to seize control on the ground but neither fighter finds the edge they were looking for.

Round 3:

Anderson fires a body kick. Davis fires jabs and crosses from different angles. Davis continues to find a home for his punches. Anderson returns with a left hook to the body. Davis goes for a takedown but is defended by Anderson who secures his own takedown for a few seconds. Davis and Anderson are tied up in the clinch once more but they separate. Anderson lands hooks to the body of Davis. Davis catches Anderson with a straight right hand. Anderson attacks the body with punches. Davis’ jabs continue to land and he also fires off a 1-2.
