Aljamain Sterling has responded to Marlon Vera’s accusations regarding weight bullying.

It’s no secret that ‘Funk Master’ is an above-average bantamweight. The 33-year-old has relied on his strength and grappling advantages to secure the UFC bantamweight title. While speaking with Michael Bisping, Vera, the number four-ranked bantamweight, had this to say about Sterling:

“I think he’s too big to make the weight class. Cutting that much weight is cheating to me. You’re kind of like a pussy to cut that much weight because you want to be bigger, stronger. Because he really doesn’t hurt nobody, but he makes you carry his weight, take you down…”

‘Chito’ continued by accusing Sterling of cutting at least 45 pounds to make the bantamweight limit. The Ecuador native said this:

“I’m 155 pounds in or out of camp. I feel like that’s a natural 135-pounder, and I still think I cut a shit lot of weight because 20 pounds is a lot. That motherf****r weighs like 170, 180 pounds when he’s eating f****ng god knows what. That’s why he’s been KOd unconscious because of the amount of weight he cuts. If you touch him, he might go down, so…”

Aljamain Sterling reacts to Chito Vera’s callout

Aljamain Sterling wouldn’t allow his name to be slandered by Chito Vera. The UFC bantamweight champion posted a response on YouTube. Although he never denied cutting a massive amount of weight, Sterling focused on Vera’s claims that he was knocked unconscious because of his weight cutting. ‘Funk Master’ had this to say:

“The whole bantamweight division could go do the same exact thing, and get hit on the same exact spot from the force of a kick like that and I guarantee you, you are sleeping. What are we even talking about? How are you even comparing that to, that’s why he’s been KO’d unconscious?…”

Sterling then shared stories about Vera being humble in person while talking trash online. The UFC bantamweight king continued his response to ‘Chito’ by saying:

“You’re talking s**t on the internet, but then you see me, and you’re trying to be cool…”

‘Funk Master’ became the UFC bantamweight world champion in March 2021 after Petr Yan was disqualified for an illegal knee. Sterling had to overcome backlash from the MMA community but proved his worth by beating Yan again in April 2022. Despite some people continuing to underestimate the 33-year-old, he remains the king of arguably the best UFC division.
