Aljamain Sterling believes Henry Cejudo wants every bit of attention he can get.
Sterling reached out to Cejudo before his UFC 292 bout against Sean O’Malley, asking for some last-minute suggestions. “Triple C” responded with some advice, which he doesn’t believe “Funk Master” followed. Sterling lost the UFC Bantamweight Championship to O’Malley via second-round TKO.
Aljamain Sterling Scolds Henry Cejudo For Publicizing DMs
Aljamain Sterling has taken to his YouTube channel to rant on Henry Cejudo. Sterling takes issue with “Triple C,” as he feels he always needs to have a camera on him.
“He’s such a clout chaser, that guy,” Sterling said. “Henry Cejudo, if you’re watching this, you are such a clout chaser. Bro, come on. I know we’re not best friends or anything, but why does everything have to have a camera in front of it? It’s like the weirdest thing. That’s why we had a little altercation in Vegas and people thought we were staging it. He said something along the lines of, ‘Let’s wait for the cameras.’ I was like, ‘Yo, bro, this is not a f*cking game, dude.’ Like, you think everything is about like, ‘Yo, let’s wait for cameras to do this.’ Like, nah, dude. We’re actually fighting. We can shake each other’s hand and whatever, but we don’t have to wait for cameras to kind of like build up or hype the fight and try to sell wolf tickets.”
The final successful title defense in Sterling’s bantamweight championship run came against Cejudo. The “Funk Master” won their UFC 288 title fight via split decision. With the victory, Aljo broke the record for the most successful UFC bantamweight title defenses in the promotion’s history.
