Top-ranked UFC light heavyweight Aleksandar Rakic knows who he would like to face upon his return to the Octagon.

Rakic hasn’t been seen in action since May 2022. He suffered a knee injury during his fight against former UFC light heavyweight champion Jan Blachowicz. Rakic said the injury first occurred during training camp. It’s been a tough road to recovery for “Rocket,” but he’s ready to show the 205-pound division that he’s coming back with a vengeance.

Aleksandar Rakic Wants Jan Blachowicz Rematch

Aleksandar Rakic believes there is unfinished business with Jan Blachowicz. During an appearance on SiriusXM’s “MMA Today,” Rakic told Anthony Smith and Din Thomas that a rematch with Blachowicz is what he’s targeting for his return from injury.

“If you ask me which fight I would love the most if it’s not a title fight, I would love to run it back with Jan because the chapter is not closed,” Rakic said. “I was in the best shape of my life and I really didn’t lose the fight because he was the better man on that night. My coaches are telling me, ‘Alex, you beat yourself.’ For me, the chapter is not closed, but we will see what the UFC, what they want.”

Rakic went on to say that it’s up to him to remind the light heavyweight division that he is a top contender in the weight class.

“I need to remind the guys in the top that I’m still here and that I’m potentially a guy who’s fighting for the title,” Rakic said.

With a record of 14-3 with nine knockouts, “Rocket” has proven to be a formidable foe. He’s beaten the likes of Thiago Santos, Anthony Smith, and Jimi Manuwa. Rakic hopes he can take that next step to finally emerge as a number one contender.
