Following Justin Gaethje’s impressive KO win over Dustin Poirier to become the new BMF at UFC 291, Conor McGregor teased a potential bout between him and “Highlight.” Gaethje’s manager Ali Abdelaziz is not sold on the idea and insists that “Notorious” is just trying to stay relevant but is no longer making a UFC return.

Conor is a clout Chaser

Speaking to TMZ Sports, Abdelaziz blatantly accused McGregor of using Gaethje’s name for “clout.” For Abdelaziz, “Notorious” is already past his prime and hasn’t done anything good lately besides making headlines for running his mouth.

“Conor McGregor, he lost himself. He doesn’t know who he is. He’s a guy who isn’t even a fighter. He’s a retired fighter. He’s not in the USADA program, he probably weighs almost close to 200 pounds. He just wants clout,” Abdelaziz pointed out.

“Justin Gaethje’s a gladiator. Dustin Poirier’s a gladiator, Kamaru Usman, Islam [Makhachev], Max Holloway, all those guys are gladiators. He’s not a gladiator anymore. The Gladiator, when they’ve done, they clean, they do that the extra work, he’s the worker. He’s not Gladiator. He wants his name to be mentioned. He misses his hype. But this hype is only can be valid [with] one thing, you have to win some fights, you have to make weight and you have to pass multiple, multiple USADA drug testing,” he added.

Conor knows it

Abdelaziz is convinced that McGregor is well aware that his career will soon be over. He still acknowledges the fact that “Notorious” is good for payday but he thinks McGregor will stay retired for good and the UFC may not give him another chance to face Gaethje after turning him down multiple times.

“He doesn’t have much left anymore of it right… we know what he bring, Conor McGregor bring big payday and bring audience right, but also, Trevor Woodman and Justin Gaethje, people who you know, is [about] integrity right,” Abdelaziz explained. “I don’t know if they will give a guy like him a chance especially after turning him down six times. I believe he don’t want to fight Justin Gaethje. I believe he using Justin Gaethje’s name to keep himself relevant, I don’t think this guy will ever fight again.”

After UFC 291, Gaethje already said he is not interested in a showdown with McGregor. “Highlight” suspects that “Notorious” is cheating and fighting him is not worth it.
