Wendy’s wants you to know they watched Watchmen once

This is a filler article. You know it, and I know it, so there’s no point in dancing around the fact. Tonight is UFC 175, and the buzz around the Middle Easy office is pretty stellar. Personally, this is the most excited I’ve been for a UFC PPV in a while. Back before the market was super over saturated by Dana White’s insatiable quest for world domination there was usually about one UFC card a month. It made “fight day” so much more glorious. Wake up, drink coffee, check news about anything that might have happened after the weigh ins, and wait. That was always the worst part about fight day; the waiting. It also made MMA writing all the more difficult…because if there’s nothing happening then there’s nothing to write about. Thus – the filler article. It’s almost meta how aware I am of the pointlessness of this article.

Today Middle Easy writer Gary LaPlante’s favorite fast food burger joint took a rather odd approach to their promotion of his favorite menu item – The Baconator. They posted a picture of an unnamed individual holding the artery clogging, heart stopping, mud butt inducing concoction with the caption “They’ll look up and say ‘Feed us.’ I’ll look down and say, ‘Okay.'” a clear reference to the Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons graphic novel –Watchmen. Or maybe it’s a 20 year old intern referencing the Zack Snyder film adaptation. I just don’t know. Some people love the approach to fast food promotion; others hate it. Personally, I could take it or leave it. I do like the notion of Alan Moore seeing it and flipping out about the establishment and what not like he is prone to do.

Check out the post below, and be sure to thank Wendy’s for contributing to the physique that has made Gary’s fight predictions so on point.
