Watch the most failed hit and run incident in automobile history

It was only a matter of time before Grand Theft Auto V started to spill into this enormous and mysterious thing we know as ‘reality.’

Everything good (or bad, depending on how you look at it) starts to rev up at the 1:23 mark when a driver inside a black SUV tries to escape but manages to severely destroy several cars in the process. Apparently just minutes before, the SUV hit a cab and the driver of the cab attempts to confront the person, who refuses to roll down his window or even stop. Here’s the official statement from the Chicago Police Department via DNAinfo.com.

Police with the Town Hall Police District told DNAinfo Chicago that the incident happened Oct. 30 at 4:14 p.m. The SUV was stolen and its driver is now in custody for the five-car accident, police said.

The president of the cab company City Service, Cometas Dilanjian, told DNAinfo Chicago the cab driver told him the SUV refused to stop and give information.

The SUV caused more than $3,000 worth of damage to the cab alone, Dilanjian said. The driver also has to pay a $500 insurance deductible and is missing at least a week’s worth of work due to the damage, Dilanjian said.

It’s been rough on the driver, Dilanjian said, but the driver remains with the company, though he will be disciplined for confronting the SUV driver.

Let’s not forget how psycho the cab driver is though. The guy goes up to the SUV with some sort of make-shift club and attempts to break the window, unaware that the driver could have had a gun handy. Extraordinary culture we live in. Props to TDM for the +100 news tip.
