On Thursday, Francis Ngannou and Tyson Fury had their first face-to-face since signing on the dotted line for a crossover boxing bout between the two heavy hitters.
Emanating from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the former UFC heavyweight champion will strap on the eight-ounce gloves for the very first time as he makes his pro boxing debut against perhaps the greatest fighter in the sport today, Tyson Fury.
Everything seemingly went off without a hitch when Ngannou and ‘The Gyspy King’ stepped on stage for their moment in front of media members, but things weren’t so smooth on the red card ahead of the massive press event.
Also scheduled for the event in Riyadh is a clash between British heavyweight champion Fabio Wardley and undefeated standout David Adeleye. Both fighters were present during Thursday’s festivities to make the official announcement but had no intention of waiting until October 28 to let their fists fly.
As Fabio Wardley was in the middle of an interview, he was approached by Adeleye. After the two briefly shared some unsavory words with one another, Adeleye violently shoved Wardley, kickstarting an all-out brawl. Fortunately, the incident was quelled quickly, but Wardley was spotted after the scuffle bleeding from a cut near his left eye.
That’s a hell of a way to announce your first undercard fight for the event.
