Serra-Longo team head coach Ray Longo raved about Francis Ngannou’s overall performance against Tyson Fury and wants to see the pair do a rematch.

It should’ve been Francis

Speaking on Anik and Florian’s podcast, Longo heaped praise on “The Predator” and emphasized that he didn’t only do well as a pro boxing debutant but also proved that he is a true professional in handling his business. For Longo, all of that made Ngannou the real winner.

“He looked very calm, cool, I thought he would have gotten more rattled in that boxing setting if he kept getting hit with the jab over and over but I think what I saw, Francis did a really good job you know it just looked like a boxing match it looked like a competitive boxing match and I think that’s a win for Francis I mean everybody, a lot of people think he won the fight if not everybody at this point but um I think that’s a win-win-win, any way you look at it I mean not even for the fight, just what he did,” Longo said of Ngannou.

A rematch would be bigger

Earlier in the podcast, UFC commentator Jon Anik suggested a rematch between Fury and Ngannou as the pay-per-view numbers were off the charts. Longo echoed Anik’s sentiment but he also thinks that “The Predator” would make his PFL debut first.

“I think he is honorable guy I think he proved that even with his negotiations that money wasn’t going to sway him, he wanted his freedom and I think he’s a he seems like a very principled guy and I think he will honor his PFL contract and I agree with you Jon, that rematch has to be done sooner rather than later depending on what the numbers were. I’m assuming and even whatever the numbers were the rematch will be even more,” Longo speculated.

True to form, Ngannou has decided to keep his word and make his maiden fight at PFL. At the same time, the former UFC heavyweight champion also plans to compete in boxing but a rematch with Fury has yet to be discussed.
