Despite his recent online antics, Mike Tyson thinks that Jake Paul is taking their fight very seriously.
Next month, the former unified heavyweight world champion will compete in his first professional boxing bout in nearly two decades when he meets ‘The Problem Child’ inside the 80,000-seat AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.
Over the last few weeks, Paul has generated concern among his fans after releasing a handful of videos of himself in a fat suit, eating fried chicken, and trying to up the ante against the ‘Baddest Man on the Planet’ with a $5 million bet. During a recent press event, combat sports journalist Amy Kaplan asked Tyson if he believes Paul is taking their fight in The Lone Star State seriously after seeing the content he’s been producing
“Listen, I think he’s taking it very seriously because his health depends on it and yeah, I’m not looking past him,” Tyson said. “I’m not taking him lightly at all.”

Jake Paul has always had his fun on social media, but when it comes time to fight, ‘The Problem Child’ is regularly on point. That’s probably why he has a solid 10-1 record in his pro boxing career with seven of those victories by way of knockout—his most recent coming against the BKFC’s ‘King of Violence’ Mike Perry.
Mike Tyson Reveals Why He Accepted the Fight with Jake Paul
Given that Mke Tyson is already one of the most iconic names in the history of the sweet science, ‘Iron’ has very little to prove. Asked why he chose to accept the fight with Paul despite being retired for the better part of 20 years, Tyson said:
“I don’t know. I kind of dig being seen by 80,000 people live.”
Aside from going down in one of the United States’ biggest stadiums, Paul vs. Tyson will also air live on Netflix marking the first time the streaming giant has aired a live combat sports event on its platform.
Given that Netflix boasts more than 260 million subscribers worldwide—all of whom can watch the fight at no extra charge—the generational showdown is expected to be one of the most watched fights of all time.
