It was initially Terry Crews
Prior to the update, fans, even Silva initially thought he was going to fight comedian and actor Terry Crews. Before Sonnen was named as the Brazilian’s official opponent, Crews challenged Silva to a fight which the former UFC middleweight champion accepted.
However, Silva himself later confirmed that it wasn’t gonna be Crews but it would be his last fight in Brazil.
“So look, I was expecting the fight to be me and Terry Crews. But it won’t be with Terry. Terry is a great friend that I have, a guy that I love very much [and] that I have great affection for. So Today, tonight at Fantastico, you will be able to find out who my opponent is in my last fight here in Brazil,” Silva said in a video.

Silva and Sonnen have had history dating back to their middleweight days in the UFC. The pair took on each other twice in a title fight with “Spider” winning in both contests.
Silva last fought in boxing in 2022 and suffered a tough decision loss to Jake Paul. On the other hand, Sonnen last fought professionally in MMA at Bellator 222 where he lost via TKO to Lyoto Machida.
