The Bellator Heavyweight Grand Prix coming at The Forum in Inglewood, Calif. on Jan. 20, 2018 with a UFC title challenger and infamous MMA mouthpiece Chael Sonnen vs. former UFC light heavyweight champion Quinton “Rampage” Jackson match at Bellator 192. It’s the opening bracket of an eight-man tournament that will ultimately crown a new Heavyweight champion.
Bellator has been without a heavyweight champion since the title was vacated by then-champ Vitaly Minakov after Bellator decided to strip him of it in May of 2016 for failing to defend the crown.
The next bout of the first round will happen at Bellator 194 on Feb. 16 when Mitirone will collide with Roy Nelson in a rematch of 2012, where Nelson won by KO.
The next bout in a row will be featuring heavyweight legend Fedor Emelianenko competing against former UFC heavyweight champion Frank Mir.
while Bellator light heavyweight champion Bader will face former Strikeforce light heavyweight champion Muhammed Lawal at as-yet-to-be-announced date and venue in May.
Matt Mitrione and Ryan Bader are the early betting favorites in Bellator MMA’s heavyweight Grand Prix tournament.
