Bellator 198 went down earlier tonight (Sat., April 28, 2018) live on Paramount Network from inside Allstate Arena in Rosemont, Illinois, where former Pride FC champion Fedor Emelianenko collide with former UFC champion Frank Mir in the third quarterfinal of the heavyweight Grand Prix.
Fedor Emelianenko stunned the crowd with an impressive finish of former UFC heavyweight champion Frank Mir in the main event. “Last Emperor” was knocked down early in his fight, but was able to turn things around quickly blasted Mir with a nasty uppercut and sending him to the canvas then landed a series of punches on Mir’s face until referee Mike Beltran stepped in and stopped the action.
With this win, Emelianenko improved his professional record to 37-5 (1 no-contest) and won six of his past seven fights. Meanwhile, Mir (18-12) was making his Bellator debut is coming off a two-year suspension after his loss to Mark Hunt back in 2016 and dropped three in a row.
Now Emelianenko will take on Chael Sonnen in the semi-final round of Bellator’s Heavyweight Grand Prix Tournament at a TBD date.

.@thefrankmir and #Fedor @spike. The term LEGEND is thrown out a lot. Tonight we have TWO LEGENDS doing battle in the cage.

Crazy fight! Fedor stunned early. Recovers. Frank marching forward with punches and bang, Fedor lands a short left hand that puts Frank's lights out. That was fun.

Wasn’t a long fight but it was frenetic and entertaining. Crowd seemed electric.
Home run of a night for Bellator. Everyone who they needed to win won (and looked good) and now they get to book Fedor v Chael.

Biggest gate in Bellator history is the MSG show last year. I say you go back there or Barclays for Fedor v. Chael. Capitalize on the Russian population in NYC. Also put the two semis on the same night.
