Anderson Silva Issues Statement On His UFC 237 Loss

UFC 237 PPV event went down this (Sat., May 11, 2019) live on ESPN+ from inside Jeunesse Arena in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. In the co-headliner bout, a former UFC champion Anderson Silva returned against No. 10-ranked Jared Cannonier in a hope to pull a win however things went wrong when Cannonier finished ‘The Spider’ with a brutal low kick to the knee that sent Silva to the canvas in pain. Silva tried to save himself but referee Herb Dean rushed in quickly and wave off the bout.

After that setback former Middleweight champion and mixed martial arts (MMA) legend, Anderson Silva just recorded one win in his last eight outings which includes a no-contest fight against Nick Diaz, which ‘Spider’ won originally via unanimous decision but later the results were overturned after he tested positive for banned substance drostanolone and androsterone.

Silva issued a statement via Instagram stating don’t get victimized if you fall.

“Speak my people.
ATE THE LIMIT … Pain is your friend …It shows that you’re not dead yet. They say that great symbols become great targets, perhaps … but the most important thing is not to get victimized if you fall, get up, get broken, no give up or think you can not because you lost a battle. The saying is one, I go to the end and the more I press but I will want to go to the end, there is nothing wild that feels sorry for itself, an old lion surrounded by hungry hyenas crazy to devour him and he yet he fights to the death without ever feeling sorry for himself, and will not be different with me !!!! Foça e Honor !!!” – Silva on Instagram.

At the moment it’s unclear what’s next for Silva as he is expected to get the MRI results of his knee this week. Silva is potentially facing six months of suspension by the Brazilian athletic commission (CABMMA).
