Dustin Poirer Wouldn’t Answer The Phone Unless It’s A Title Fight

“They already know what I’m going to say: If it’s not a title fight, I’m not answering the phone.”
After the win, in his post-fight speech, Poirier made his case clear for a title shot against lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov.
But currently, UFC is keen on booking a highly anticipated bout between Khabib Nurmagomedov and Conor Mcgregor which is expected to take place in October or November, but nothing is official yet.
Poirier said he’s not in a rush to get back to the Octagon, So maybe he can target the winner of Khabib vs. Conor, that timeline may sit well to him.
“I’m just trying to enjoy my life and my family now,” he said. “I started this camp injured from my (Justin) Gaethje fight. I’m not in a big rush. They’ll call me when they’re ready.”
Beside title fight, Poirier can bend little, and that’s against former champion Tony Ferguson for the right money.
“It’s really up to them for an offer,” Poirier said. “It has to make sense. … Money talks.”
‘The Diamond’ is confident that he can beat anyone in his division including Ferguson, but a title fight is the better. Earlier this year, Poirier signed a new UFC contract with the key element featured ‘championship language’ which means he’s looking to win the belt.
“The best-case scenario would be Conor and Khabib fight, and I fight the winner at the beginning of next year.”
Poirier is riding on four win streak and third straight time against a former champion.
