Cormier Blasts Gustafsson: ‘What Exactly Have You Accomplished?’

UFC light heavyweight Alexander Gustafsson wants another shot at light heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier, but ‘DC’ is occupied in preparation of his upcoming super fight with heavyweight champ Stipe Miocic at UFC 226 on July 7 in Las Vegas. However, ‘The Mauler’ has no choice to settle for a war of words rather than a fight inside the Octagon.

Cormier met Gustafsson two and a half years ago in his first title defense and won via split-decision.

Gustafsson will be sticking around the UFC for a while longer as the two-time title challenger recently announced via social media that he signs a ‘lucrative’ new contract with the promotion as well jabs at Daniel Cormier in the announcement.

Cormier had an epic response to Gustafsson’s retirement jibe and throw shade that his greatest accomplishment in his career is that he’s lost to both DC and Jones.

“Alex, what exactly have you accomplished in your career? I’ve earned the right to retire on top. Your greatest accomplishment is two close losses. Congrats on the new contract, now go fight. It’s been two years. Enough with the social media. #gofight”

Injuries have kept Gustafsson relatively inactive; he last fought at UFC Fight Night 109 where Gustafsson knocked out Glover Teixeira in the fifth round of their “Fight of the Night” last May.

Unfortunately for ‘The Mauler,’ he’s probably going to be waiting for a while with Daniel Cormier tied up coaching the new season of “The Ultimate Fighter” (TUF) before facing Miocic in July.

Would you like to see a rematch between Gustafsson and Cormier down the road?
