Some of my fondest memories are of watching Michael Jordan’s entrance to the hardwood in the old Chicago Stadium and later the United Center. When you were there in person, you would hear the announcer say, “From North Caro…” then everything would turn into a hum of pink noise. The screams were so loud they would melt together and you could hear the popping of the sound waves as crashed over Michael Jordan’s name.
No, I’m not saying Conor McGregor is even nearing Michael Jordan levels in his career, but for one night in July, he was a golden god. Only Big Nog knocking out Brendan Schaub in Brazil even approaches this crowd for sheer audible intensity. It was incredible, and if you haven’t experienced that Dublin crowd, take less than a minute and do so now.
