It seems that the whole K-1 situation might have a new twist to it. Go Yamamoto, aka Shiroobi is reporting that Barbizon, a luxury real estate rentals and investment company that acquired the rights and associated trademarks of K-1 back in 2011 has sold K-1 to EMCOM. Supposedly EMCOM is buying the K-1 trademark and video archive for approximately 7.19 million American dollars.
I dug a bit deeper to find more info on this. EMCOM is a Japanese “Technology & Finance Company.” There is a press release on their site about “K-1 Global Holdings Limited” that seems to indicate that they’ve acquired K-1. I’ve ran the press release through Google Translate and what I’ve managed to interpret is that the deal is with EMCOM Holdings Inc. and EMCOM Entertainment Inc., a subsidiary of EMCOM Holdings Inc. It seems that the board of directors met and discussed planning, production and management for “K-1 Global Holdings Limited.” It looks like EMCOM Entertainment Inc. got a loan from EMCOM Holdings Inc. to make the purchase of “K-1 Global Holdings Limited.”
