- Conor McGregor vs. Michael Chandler is reportedly “in limbo” once again
- The UFC is believed to be looking for possible replacements for “Notorious”
The highly-anticipated Conor McGregor vs. Michael Chandler fight is reportedly likely to be altered or cancelled.
Not looking good
MMA journalist and The MMA Hour host Ariel Helwani recently provided an update on McGregor vs, Chandler and from the look of it, things are “not looking good.” Helwani reported that the UFC has begun reaching out to people for potential replacements as “Notorious” could be out once again.
“I found out that via multiple sources, that they are reaching out to people again, they are reaching out to managers, they are reaching out to fighters… The positivity that I talked about exactly one week ago today is nowhere to be found. I would say that this fight is very much in limbo, I would say that it’s hanging on. I would say that the UFC is working very, very hard right now to figure out a plan B,” Helwani said.
“As of right now, it’s pessimism, they’re searching for, reaching out, putting out fillers, making offers, this is where we stand and it’s in great limbo. “As of right this second, I have to shoot straight, I don’t want to be the bearer of bad news, but [those are] the facts, it’s not looking good,” he added. “The Plan B could be someone stepping in to fight Chandler. The Plan C could be a whole new fight.”

Not a lot of options
Helwani also noted that while the UFC has been scrambling for replacements, the truth is that they don’t have a lot of big-name options to fill in should everything completely goes south.
“If you look at the roster, if you look at who’s available, if you look at the champions who have just fought or who are scheduled to fight, there aren’t a ton of options,” he said.
As it stands, Chandler remains positive and is hoping nothing could prevent the fight from happening. On the other hand, McGregor has also guaranteed fans that he will be making his UFC return no matter what.
