BJ Penn is coming back to the Octagon at featherweight and against Frankie Edgar, whoa!

The Prodigy has returned.

No, for real this time. UFC Tonight just reported that B.J. Penn is slated to return to the octagon in the FEATHERWEIGHT division. And if that’s not exciting enough for you, he’s fighting the man who made him contemplate his status as a lightweight—the one and only Frankie Edgar.

While Edgar no doubt won the second fight, I will argue to the death, and I’m serious about this, that B.J. took home the first one. I really could care less what three dudes in Abu Dhabi said.

Regardless, it’s going to be good to see B.J. at featherweight because, well, he’s not a very big guy. He’s downright tiny in comparison to some of the fighters he tangled with in the past few years.

And before I go into full Penn fanboyness, I should probably mention that they will be coaching the next season of the Ultimate Fighter. Ehh, I know what you’re thinking, “ahh man, we have to wait out a mediocre television show til we see 145 Penn,” and I feel your pain. Trust me I do, but it will be worth it.

All in all, whether you love you some Penn or not, as MMA fans we should all be excited to see him at 145 because it basically forces him to be in some kind of shape, right? I think so and I’m super pumped about it.
