Matt Brown sure doesn’t seem to enjoy the fact women are fighting in the UFC

I remember this as if it was yesterday, well… sort of (we’ll get to that in a little bit). I was at a hardcore show to see this local band Manners, among others. I was on the outside of the pit, taking a breather, and the next thing I know this girl next to me starts slam dancing. I knew she was there but I couldn’t see her, so I ended up taking a fist directly on my jaw. My knees buckled and all I could see was this weird effect, almost as if a tube TV turning off. I didn’t lose consciousness, but I did have some memory loss and what I do remember is somewhat hazy. I remember someone grabbing me and saying, “Are you okay?!” I replied with an indecipherable grunt or moan. I did finish the rest of the set in the pit because I paid money to see Manners and I’m going to see Manners the way I intended to and that’s in the pit.

The next band up was was Code Orange Kids, who are one of the best up and coming bands within the hardcore scene and you should start listening to them. Even though the majority of you who will read this will detest them, but I don’t care. Anyways, the next day I was telling my story about how I got punched in the face by this girl and I was asked who played the show. I told them Manners, Defeater (who headlined the show) and I couldn’t for the life of me remember who else played even though I love Code Orange Kids. As I ended up looking who played and tried to remember their set, I have absolutely zero recollection of their set.

So in conclusion, as someone who has felt first hand the knockout power women posses, Matt Brown is a silly person for saying what he said about women in the UFC and I’ll leave it at that. Oh, what did he say? This:

“I just think this, if I’m [going] to pay $60 for a Pay-Per-View to watch women fight they should at least be topless.”

“How many knockouts do you see in women’s fights? It’s not really my thing, I respect what they do, but look, they don’t have the body type or the power, all that s**t, for knockouts. If you’re not a good grappler in women’s MMA then you’re behind. It’s no different than the 125 [pound] division of men’s MMA in that they’re just really not built for knockouts.”
