Hugo Santillian Tragically Dies After Sustaining Damage In Fight Another tragic death has occurred in the world on boxing. Hugo Santillian became the second boxer to die this week, from injuries sustained in the ring. Earlier this week, there was tragic news as Maxim Dadashev passed away after a boxing match. The fight was stopped his his corner, in the 11th round. Despite that, he would go on to pass away at a hospital shortly after. Now, only five days later, another boxer has fallen victim to damage in the ring. Hugo Santillian was only 23 years old when he fought Eduardo Javier Abreu. The contest went to a draw on Saturday. However, when the judges were reading the scorecards, it was clear that Santillian was bad off. In this video, you can see him struggling to stand, being held up by his corner. Santillian would later collapse and be given oxygen, before being transported to the hospital. It was at this point, which it was found out that he had a brain clot. Subsequently, doctors tried to preform surgery on the boxer. Despite these efforts, he would suffer two cardiorespiratory arrests, and pass away. Santillian was 19-6-2 in his professional career. He competed in the super-lightweight division. Additionally, he had eight knockouts in his career. This being the second case in such a short time, is rather disheartening. There are plenty of reasons for the backlash the people involved have faced. This is a super disturbing event to see. MiddleEasy offers condolences to the friends and family of Hugo Santillian. For all of our sakes, hopefully this is the last time this happens for a while.
