Tony Ferguson refuses to succumb to Father Time and insists that he is not retiring anytime soon.

‘El Cucuy’ isn’t done

Ferguson recently linked up with Demetrious Johnson for a UFC event and provided some massive update on his status as a fighter. Speaking on the former longtime UFC flyweight champion’s YouTube channel, “El Cucuy” revealed that he is planning on making a UFC return on January of February next year.

“I left half a f**king glove in there, and I got it back, so that just tells me I got both pairs of gloves,” Ferguson told Demetrious Johnson on his YouTube Channel. “We’re going to probably take the rest of this season, figure some things out, and we’re coming back hard either January or February, so stay tuned.”

“F**k no, I’m not retiring. I’m too old to retire. I’m 40 years old. I’m halfway to 80. I’ve been competing since I was 5 years old in multiple sports. I’ve wrestled in college. I’ve done all the other stuff, and it’s not like I don’t know anything else. I do. I’m still able to compete. When somebody can run a sprint faster than me, then maybe I’ll start to consider it,” he continued.

Tony has been in a slump

Despite being an undeniable fan-favorite, Ferguson hasn’t tasted a win since stopping Donald Cerrone via TKO in 2019. He last fought at UFC Abu Dhabi and suffered a submission loss to Michael Chiesa in the first round.

As it stands, the lost to Chiesa saw “El Cucuy” setting a new UFC record for the longest losing streak in the promotion’s history. Nevertheless, the 40-year-old seems unfazed by his terrible streak and eager to prove that he could still compete at a high level.
