The ‘Cowboy’ is back!

After coming up winless in his final nine fights with the promotion, Donald Cerrone walked away from the UFC in 2022 after logging an incredible 48 fights during his 12-year tenure with the organization. Now, ‘Cowboy’ is planning to come back for at least two more scraps to reach the coveted 50-fight milestone.

“I want to go back and get two more fights,” Cerrone said in a video on his Instagram. “When I retired, I told you I was getting my hair done and get on steroids. The No. 50 (Zuffa) has been sitting on my mind for a while. So, I’ve been working with Transcend for the last two years, taking TRT and a bunch of peptides.

“Now we got a protocol for all you people that, ‘Oh, what if you get on it, you can’t ever come off.’ Well, I now have to come off and piss clean, fight in a few months. So, watch this.”

Donald ‘Cowboy’ Cerrone’s UFC Legacy is Undeniable

Technically, Cerrone has 38 fights inside the Octagon with another 10 fights coming under the WEC banner which was also owned by Zuffa before its fighters were absorbed into the UFC in 2011.

During his run, Cerrone competed for the lightweight title four times between the WEC and UFC, but he never captured gold in either promotion. Still, ‘Cowboy’ solidified his legacy as a fighter’s fighter with wins over some of the division’s biggest names, including Charles Oliveira, Jeremy Stephens, Edson Barboza,  Jim Miller, Eddie Alvarez, Benson Henderson, Matt Brown, and ‘Platinum’ Mike Perry

Cerrone is currently ranked third for most fights in UFC history, trailing only former heavyweight champion Andre Arlovski at 42 and Jim Miller at 44. He is tied for second for most UFC wins at 23 and is in third for most finishes in UFC history.

He was inducted into the UFC Hall of Fame in 2023.
