Chael Sonnen Hangs Up His Gloves: “I Had A Hell Of A Lot Of Fun, I Appreciate The Memories And Goodbye!”

Chael Sonnen was defeated in the co-main event by Lyoto Machida via second-round TKO. Sonnen ate a brutal flying knee, which dropped him, and Machida finished “The American Gangster” with a brutal barrage of ground strikes.

Immediately after the fight, Chael Sonnen announced his retirement. Chael took his gloves off and left them in the cage!

“Listen, I got one thing to say. I had a hell of a lot of fun,” Sonnen said. “I had a good run. Scott Coker gave me a five-fight deal. He let me honor all five fights. And ladies and gentleman, I’m walking out.

“I appreciate the memories and goodbye.”

Legendary trash-talker Chael Sonnen retired with a score of 31 wins, 17 losses, and 1 draw. Chael fought four times for the title (UFC 3, WEC 1), but he lost all championship matches by the way of KO or TKO. The former UFC star defeated notable names like Rampage Jackson, Michael Bisping, Wanderlei Silva, and Nate Marquardt.
