- Khabib Nurmagomedov replied to Georges St-Pierre’s claim that he would’ve beat him in their rumored fight
- “The Eagle” and GSP were also rumored to face each other in a grappling match in 2022
It didn’t take long for Khabib Nurmagomedov to comment on Georges St-Pierre’s prediction on their rumored super fight.
Khabib stayed classy
St-Pierre revisited his then-talked-about showdown with Nurmagomedov during a recent podcast appearance. The former UFC welterweight champion said he was confident that he could’ve beat “The Eagle” at the time if the fight actually took place.
As expected, Nurmagomedov learned about St-Pierre’s remarks and responded to it on social media. Unlike other UFC legends, Nurmagomedov didn’t refute St-Pierre’s take and came up with a classy and peaceful statement instead.
“I learn from this guy a lot,” he wrote. “Even hear[ing] him talk about me is so interesting.”

The GOAT battle that didn’t happen
Both St-Pierre and Nurmagomedov dominated their respective divisions during their reign as UFC champions. That said, many have fancied seeing the pair clash inside the Octagon and at one point, it almost happened.
Unfortunately, both GSP and “The Eagle” were already retired when a showdown between them was reportedly considered. Weeks and months have passed but the what was supposed to be a battle between two GOATs of the sport did not take place.
In 2022, another rumor swirled and it stated that a grappling match between St-Pierre and Nurmagomedov was set to happen. However, the Russian MMA legend eventually shot down the rumor and insisted that the entire idea didn’t make any sense to him.
