- Colby Covington blasted Sean Strickland for complaining about UFC fighter pay
- “Chaos” suggests that “Tarzan” should be thankful for being paid well by the UFC
Colby Covington is not happy with Sean Strickland’s negative comments about UFC fighter pay and accused the former middleweight champion of not being true to himself.
Sean spoke about unfair UFC fighter pay
In an old social media post, “Tarzan” took a jab at the UFC for paying its fighters significantly low salaries. Strickland even urged bare-knuckle boxing star Mike Perry to advocate for better fighter pay at BKFC.
Sean Strickland fires back at Mike Perry and advocates for better fighter pay:
"UFC pay is utter garbage lol they're signing guys at 10K/10K that should be criminal… but the vast majority of BKFC fighters are getting paid way less than that…

Keep it real, Sean
Speaking to SOSCAST w/ Adam Sosnick, “Chaos” did not hold back in criticizing Strickland over his remarks. For Covington, Strickland was a “hypocrite” for complaining about unfair UFC fighter pay when he is being paid handsomely by the company.
“My thoughts are, Sean changed his life, so he’s kind of hypocritical to be saying this. Now, he lives in a really nice mansion-style type house, has great cars, and has money in the bank. So, who is he to say this?,” Covington said of Strickland.
“He’s literally being a hypocrite too,” he continued. “Like, he’s talking about the guys that just started in UFC. He’s talking about the $10,000/$10,000 pay? Yeah, that’s when you get your first fight in UFC. Let’s talk about what he’s making now. He’s making a guaranteed $500,000 to 1.5 million in that range per fight.”
“As a first-time fighter in the UFC, you haven’t made the UFC any business, you haven’t done anything for the company,” Covington pointed out. “So, why do you think you deserve to get handouts and get paid? If you go 0-2 on your first contract, you don’t win any fights, how should you ever deserve to get paid or get healthcare?”
“You did nothing for the company. You added no value, and you made the company no money. So, Sean’s in the wrong here again. I don’t know why he’s so mad about the UFC, they made him a millionaire too. He got molested as a kid by his dad allegedly, so why is he talking bad about the UFC? He’s from a broken home, now he’s in a f**king nice home,” he added.
Covington and Strickland are unlikely to face each other as they are both top contenders in two different divisions. But from the look of it, a verbal war appears to be looming.
Strickland last fought earlier this month and secured a split decision win over Paulo Costa at UFC 302. On the other hand, Covington has yet to be booked since losing to Leon Edwards in their title fight at UFC 296.
