Lizard Squad is at it again; Destiny servers are down

As you’ve no doubt realized by now Destiny is something of a divisive topic. Not just among the gaming community, but also here in the MiddleEasy offices. It’s not a great a game. It’s not a great MMO. It’s basically a soulless attempt at an open world FPS that leaves you thinking that maybe, just maybe, Microsoft had a lot to do with the success and execution of Halo. That being said, the competitive multiplayer side of Destiny is still a hell of a lot of fun. There isn’t much in the way of modes, but the four that come with it, in addition to the random mode, make for a lot of chaotic pew pew pew enjoyment. Disregard the shittyness and cruelty of the RNC and broke d**k loot system. It’s just plain fun to play a few rounds of capture, complete a couple of bounties, and buy those legendary gauntlets from whatever faction you choose. Ya know. Since you can only earn 100 crucible marks a week. And once you start earning crucible marks glimmer pretty much becomes useless.

That was a pretty long winded opening paragraph that would have my high school paper editor-in-chief as well as my English department TA’s from college on the verge of an aneurysm because I basically just said “Sucks to your inverted pyramid!”

Right now, the Destiny servers are FUBAR (I’m using military lingo in honor of Tim Kennedy [which isn’t to suggest any sort of bias towards stoolgate, but due to the fact that he just fought last night so why not]). Apparently this is the work of Lizard Squad, who you might remember decided to wreck the PSN a few weeks back. Their agenda before was that if Sony is going to make you pay for online services, then they should provide better protection. No word what their motive is on the Destiny servers other than that they could do it. Could be that they mirror a large chunk of the gaming communities feelings that Bungie released a dull and incomplete game. Could be that they don’t want my Hunter to purchase that exotic helmet from Xur. Could be that they are just d**ks.
