Vitor Belfort says he doesn’t want to fight Anderson Silva

How could I talk about Vitor Belfort without mentioning Affliction II: Day of Reckoning when the dude nearly comatosed Matt Lindland live on PPV. Everyone in that arena (including all the heads that dropped $59.95 on what has still been one of the best cards this year) just thought we witnessed our first unintentional execution. This wasn’t what we bargained for. It was like the future dipped into that weird jar of semi-post apocalyptic The Running Man. I was expecting Arnold Govenator to run in the cage rocking one of those yellow spandex jumpsuits (which we’re still waiting to see). Damn. When the guy that knocked you out is praying over your unconscious body, you know your future isnt looking that promising (not as promising as a future with hoverboards).

Vitor Belfort is slated to bang against Anderson Silva at UFC 108 and while Anderson Silva said Belfort should not trade strikes with him…Vitor says he really doesn’t even want to fight Silva at all.

“This thing of fighting Anderson is something that I’ve never looked for. I care about him a lot, but started that thing of Dana White talks… I don’t care about fighting for the title, I want to do some more fights. I don’t have this ambition of fighting him (Anderson) now, I didn’t get in UFC looking for it, to take his belt… I never had that thing, I just want to do my work.”

So it looks like Vitor Belfort really doesn’t even have the ambition to fight Anderson Silva. All of this comes on the verge of Strikeforce offering Dan Henderson a contract, a dude that was jumping up and down, waving his hands and screaming ‘Pick me!’ to Dana White. The MMA world is a wild place. [Source]
