Cub Swanson fought tough, but couldn’t escape Brian Ortega’s choke.
Brian Ortega earned the biggest win of his career with a second-round submission victory over Cub Swanson in the main headliner. It’s the fifth straight win for Ortega (13-0-1), and he snapped Swanson’s four-fight win streak. Orteg, the No. 6 featherweight in the world, is likely to get a number-one contender fight next or possibly even a title shot.
Cub Swanson was landing some firm strikes on Ortega, but Ortega showed no signs of damage and continued walking Swanson down. Ortega locked in the guillotine choke from a standing position and re-adjusted his grip to lock up the submission and force Swanson to tap.
With this performance, Ortega maintains his undefeated professional record and locks down his fifth-straight UFC finish.
