Dustin Poirier Smashed Anthony Pettis At UFC Norfolk

UFC lightweight contender Dustin Poirier added a huge win to his cap Saturday when he thrashed former champion Anthony Pettis in their main-event fight.

Dustin Poirier (22-5) picked up a submission win when Pettis (20-7) tapped out at 2:08 of the third round in the headline of UFC Fight Night 120.

Pettis forced to tap due to of an injury, as he strained his body awkwardly in an effort to escape Poirier’s grip. All that time Poirier dominated the fight to that point and wasted no time called out his next foe.

“Everybody points the finger, says I slip up in big fights — that’s two champions in a row. What’s up?”

“I’m not gonna ask for a fight. I’m gonna tell you the fight,” said Poirier, saying he wants the winner of the Dec. 2 fight between Justin Gaethje and Eddie Alvarez. “Then I’ll fight for the title. There, I laid it out for you guys.”

Poirier reveals what he saw as the biggest weakness in Pettis’ fight: his wrestling

“I’ve been working on my wrestling at American Top Team. I feel like that’s his biggest hole in his game. We know he has amazing kickboxing.”

Dustin Poirier nearly destroyed Pettis with strikes at the end of the opening round. The fight was all over in the third round, with Pettis being forced to tap after presumably breaking his rib try to escaping from Dustin’s circle.
