Rose Namajunas On A Rematch With Joanna Jedrzejczyk: ‘I Don’t Think So’

Last weekend, we saw some fantastic fights at UFC 217. Rose Namajunas pledged to not lose her title fight against the champ Joanna Jedrzejczyk at UFC 217 before it began, she holds on to her words and demolishes her by first-round knockout victory to shock the rest of MMA world.

Rose Namajunas told Ariel Helwani on an episode of ‘The MMA Hour’ Joanna should not get the chance to rematch so soon.

“I don’t think so,” Namajunas said. “I don’t know how that could … anything is possible, right? A first-round knockout and she tapped due to strikes. Even though she was still stumbling afterward, there was still some part of her that tapped. Not a fluke.”

Rose Namajunas is open to a first title defense, who to fight next:

“I thought about the idea of the rest of the division, and I wonder who’s gonna call me out and things like that,” Namajunas said. “But I haven’t really thought about who I want to fight yet, no. All I’ve been thinking about the next step — other than decompress, things like that and have a little fun and see the rest of my friends and family — is just making sure our team is tight and solid.”

Rose (7-3) lost out to Esparza in the inaugural UFC women’s strawweight title fight in 2014, but now she is a title holder. During post-fight conference at UFC 217, Rose said she needed some time off at this moment.

“It doesn’t stop here,” she said. “We’ve gotta regroup and just enjoy ourselves a little bit. We’ve definitely gotta think about it.”
