Max Griffin Earns Split Decision Win After Knocking Down Tim Means – UFC Vegas 63 Results (Highlights)

Coming off a loss to Kevin Holland in his last outing, Tim Means took on Max Griffin in his return to action at UFC Fight Night 213 at UFC Apex in Las Vegas, Nevada.

UFC Vegas 63: Max Griffin vs. Tim Means

Round 1

Griffin comes out striking. Nice leg kicks by Griffin. Means is trying to circle him back. Big right hook from Griffin puts Means down. Griffin goes for the elbows and Means manages to wrap his arm around to survive and avoid any damage. Reversal from Means to get up. Means pins Griffin to the cage. They exchange knees in close quarters before returning back to the middle. Outside leg kick by Means. Another one. He’s chopping down his legs here. Big straight right from Griffin lands. Body shot from Griffin. Big right from Griffin lands again. Means trying to cut off the cage to counter Griffin’s movement. Griffin goes for a takedown, gets a double leg but hasn’t got Means down.

Round 2

Both get into striking exchanges off the bat. Means goes to the body and Griffin tries a counter hook. Griffin displaying good footwork and movement to counter. Griffin with a strong low kick. Griffin on the outside moving laterally around the cage. He goes for a takedown but doesn’t get it. Griffin’s striking output has gone down significantly. He seems content being on the outside. Leg kick by Means. Heavy straight jab by Griffin rocks Means and he goes down. Griffin ends the round on top.

Round 3

Means comes out firing. Means tries a takedown, gets the single leg and hits the takedown momentarily. Griffin escapes and gets a takedown of his own. Nice scramble from Griffin who’s on the top now. Means used a submission attempt to stand up. Griffin gets Means down again off the cage. Means reverses and gets that takedown back. Means goes for the knees. Big knee to the body from Means. Means gets the double leg to finish the fight.

 

Official Result: Max Griffin defeats Tim Means via split decision (29-28, 29-28, 28-29).
