Jorge Masvidal has his eyes set on a super-fight with Conor McGregor but has sent him a stern warning.

Masvidal, just like the rest of the UFC roster, is trying to get that money fight with the ‘Notorious’ one. McGregor is still recovering from his broken leg injury but has been seen throwing kicks and getting back to training. While a return to action is unlikely in 2022, there is a chance he will make his highly anticipated return in December.

Masvidal questions McGregor’s comeback

When he does come back, there is a list of fighters that want to welcome him back. ‘Gamebred’ is among them; however, he thinks there is a chance McGregor doesn’t even come back.

“I don’t think he’s going to fight period again,” Masvidal told SunSports in a recent interview. I definitely don’t think he fights after [a fight with] me. Just like I was a cancer to Nate Diaz’s style and brand, because he’s like this tough guy and like, ‘Man, I’m going to stand toe-to-toe with anybody and go to war and everybody’s going to run from me.’ Nah. Wrong, I’m going to get in your face and make you back down. Same thing with Conor.”

Early retirement

Masvidal claims he went send McGregor into early retirement.

“He’s not going to be able to say he took me down and held me down, he’s going to say, this guy kneed me in the ribs, elbowed me in the eye socket and then knocked me the fu*k out. And it’s not going to look good for his brand. I don’t even see him taking the fight with me to tell the truth. But much less, if he takes the fight with me, I don’t think he’s fighting after that.”

A fight between McGregor and Masvidal makes a lot of sense with how their careers are going. Both UFC superstars are on losing streaks, and both need a win to get back into the conversation.

UFC President Dana White shot down the matchup a few years ago, saying that Masvidal is too big for the Irish superstar. White still isn’t on board with the potential matchup as he wants to see McGregor fight Michael Chandler.

Masvidal is coming off a unanimous decision loss to Colby Covington at UFC 272 and is currently in a lawsuit with Covington as well.
