Nonetheless, Jeremy Stephens is willing to give the matchup another shot. Even though he suffered a match-ending eye poke in just 15 seconds, Stephens vocalized his desire to run it back... and as soon as possible. UFC Mexico City was on its way to becoming one of the better Fight Night cards that ESPN+ had to offer. Then, the main event happened.\u00a015 seconds into the bout, Yair threw a 'strike' that poked Stephens in the eye. Referee Herb Dean displayed an elite level of referee skills. Dean gave the maximum time allowed of 5 minutes for Stephens to continue but after that time period, he still couldn't open his eye. Consequently, the bout was called off and declared a no-contest.
