Sarah Frota Suspended By USADA for Failed Drug Test Tuesday Night Contender Series alumn and UFC flyweight Sarah Frota has been suspended by USADA (United States Anti-Doping Agency) for the next two years. Accepting the ban, Frota\u00a0tested positive for multiple stanozolol metabolites. Starting on July 27th, the ineligibility phase began which was the day her urine sample was collected by the sanctioning body. Along with the ban, USADA wrote an official statement on their website listing what Frota flagged for. Statement from USADA "(Sarah)Frota Lima, 32, tested positive for multiple stanozolol metabolites, including 16\u03b1-hydroxystanozolol, 3\u2019,16-dihydroxystanozolol, and 4\u03b2,16-dihydroxystanozolol. As the result of an in-competition urine sample, she provided on July 27, 2019, at UFC 240 Edmonton, where she lost by technical knockout. Stanozolol is a non-Specified Substance in the class of Anabolic Agents. And, prohibited at all times under the UFC Anti-Doping Policy, which has adopted the World Anti-Doping Agency, Prohibited List." The statement continues: "(Sarah) Frota Lima\u2019s two-year period of ineligibility, the standard sanction for a non-Specified Substance under the UFC Anti-Doping Policy, began on July 27, 2019. The date her positive sample was collected. The athlete\u2019s positive test also falls under the jurisdiction of the Edmonton Combative Sports Commission, which has accepted USADA\u2019s resolution of the case and recognized its sanction. Frota Lima has not competed in the UFC since her fight on July 27, 2019." Frota Releases a Statement on Instagram https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/B2h4f-dJDmd\/ Frota released a lengthy statement on her Instagram account. Despite the ban, Frota penned that she believes the medicine she was consuming was contaminated and now she is praying the price. Part of the statement read, " I took a routine medicine (which I had taken before), however, I was at risk because I consumed a contaminated medicine provided by a friend (who also could not imagine what was coming) and NOT by the pharmacy that sponsors me. Frota owns a UFC record of 0-2. First, a loss came via split decision against\u00a0Livinha Souza at UFC Fight Night 144. Lastly, her final loss came against hot flyweight prospect Gillian Robertson at UFC 240. Furthermore, collection of the failed sample came the same day that Frota fought Robertson in the octagon.
