Long-time UFC Welterweight competitor, Nick Diaz, known for trash-talking, various scandals, and fighting in public, was represented today by his attorney, Ross Goodman, on the hearing in Las Vegas, Nevada. He was arrested and accused in last month’s domestic battery assault. And it looks like he was in cocaine-fueled rage during the assault. There was a strange request against El Diablo. The prosecution believed free Diaz would be a great risk, so they asked the increase of the bail to $100,000. But the request is declined by the judge, and here is the transcript from MMAJunkie.com. Judge Amy Chelini ultimately refused the request, saying she “can’t fathom” a reason to increase the bail above the standard set by the court. She appeared to agree there were inconsistencies in the alleged victim’s story that would need to be proven at trial. She added Diaz shouldn’t be punished based on his occupation. “I don’t care,” she said. “He’s going to be treated the same way everybody else is.” Nick Diaz swears to his innocence. He will be back in the court on July 10. Remember, he took part in an incident on May 24 when he injured a woman. Nick Diaz was immediately arrested but later he was released from prison with the bail of $18,000. Bad news for Nick Diaz – UFC has frozen his contract, and no action will happen until he ends up his law issues. And his marijuana suspension was expiring! Diaz broke the code of conduct, so we hope for the best. Would you like to see this controversial fighter in the octagon again? Please leave us your thoughts, stay tuned, and hope for the best!
