Former welterweight and middleweight champion Georges St-Pierre made a spectacular return to UFC back in November after a four-year of hiatus scoring gold by submitting then-middleweight champion Michael Bisping at UFC 217. However, GSP relinquished the belt shortly, after being diagnosed with ulcerative colitis. He admitted he wasn’t sure if he would ever fight again. On recent episode of MMAHour, Georges St-Pierre said he is currently pondering a return to the promotion if the right opportunity arose. GSP also addressed the one fight that both his coaches and the MMA community at large have been discussing, a match-up with current UFC lightweight champion Conor McGregor. Georges St-Pierre said money wise Conor McGregor could put the most on a table, but his fight does nothing for my legacy. St-Pierre coach Firas Zahabi went on record saying a potential UFC bout between the pair would be ‘the biggest fight in history.’ But coach later revealed that he doesn’t believe it’s a fight that will come to fruition. The former UFC title contender Chael Sonnen gives his take on GSP wanting a mega fight and why it makes sense for a Conor vs. GSP fight now...not later on his “Beyond the Fight” podcast (via MMA Junkie): “I do believe will be back and it will be against Conor in what will be the biggest fight in MMA history. I know that Georges will do it. He’s made that clear. And I also know, contrary to what some fans will say about, ‘Well, what weight class? You can only ask Conor to go up so much.’ Georges will go down. And now that it has come out that Conor talked to Dana and wanted to do a 165-pound fight, Georges would go down to 165.” “I’ll speak for him, I’ll tell you, he for sure will. I’m not speaking for him, he shared that with me, but I will pass that on to you. He would go to 165 if it means Conor. Conor doesn’t have the belt and Georges wants to come back and Georges only wants to come back for Conor. And they both want to do this legacy and all this other stuff – a check guys, that’s what you’re getting on this. Forget about how we think about you in the future, let’s talk about tonight. That’s the fight.” Conor Mcgregor who is still enjoying his hefty $100 million purse to box Floyd Mayweather last August and his fight future is still in the air. It is largely known that Mcgregor will fight against the winner of Tony Ferguson vs. Khabib Nurmagomedov, but at the moment nothing is guaranteed when it comes to Mcgregor. Not long ago Conor Mcgregor brought up the idea of a 165-pound ‘super lightweight’ title allegedly asked the UFC to Create a Division. Moreover, St-Pierre is ready to go down to 155-pound if the right challenge comes his way. How many of you want to see this megafight?
