Angela Magana Has Been UnResponsive Since An Emergency Spine Surgery On Tuesday Night Strawweight fighter Angela Magana had been suffering from back pain for a while, and during her preparation for 'Combate Americas' fight, she felt the excruciating pain. After getting an MRI report, it showed she's a herniated disc. However, Magana took the medication and resumed her training, but things become worse for her. She's currently in San Juan Puerto Rico, on Monday Magana went to University Hospital to get a nerve block surgery done on her spine to alleviate a pain caused by a herniated disc. During a checkup, doctors diagnosed she's cauda equina syndrome, where something compressed the nerves if treatment doesn't get done on time it leads to paralysis. The surgery was done on Tuesday night following that Angela's coach Gabriel Lamastus updated on social media that strawweight contender slipped into a coma following complications from anesthesia during an operation. Coach Gabriel Lamastus revealed to MMAJunkie today that Angela is slowly regaining consciousness and is on the road to recovery. \u201cAngela is responding to the treatment and is waking up!!!,\u201d Lamastus wrote in a text message. \u201cWe are overjoyed. She has been in and out of it. This started happening this morning.\u201d According to Coach Magana has been able to talk as well. Angela Magana released from the UFC back in January 2018. Her run in the promotion started with The Ultimate Fighter 20 where she lost a match to Aisling Day in the first round of the tournament. During her stint in the UFC Magana never able to pull a win. Currently, she is scheduled to face off Kyra Batara at \u201cCombate 35: Reinas\u201d on April 26 in Los Angeles. We wish her a speedy recovery as she managed to battle through a scary incident.
