It’s a violent world out there. Kids being picked last on dodge ball teams, uncooperative teammates on Battlefield 3, PETA consistently making you feel horrible for enjoying the taste of a well-cooked hamburger. Sometimes diplomacy is just not enough to get your point across. While we don’t advocate violence on MiddleEasy unless it’s under the control of an athletic commission and within a cage or ring, we do recognize that many of you have decided to bring mixed martial arts to the street. With the rise of people clutching to their cell phone cameras like Miley Cyrus gives half-assed boxing advice (we’re not even sure what that means), we’ve seen an influx of documented occurrences of what we’ve coined ‘Street MMA.’
Actually, back in 2010 we stumbled across a video of a ridiculous fight, which I titled ‘Lithuanian Street MMA.’ Since then, the video disappeared from our server, probably running away from its responsibilities as a viral video. Turns out, the video wasn’t even from Lithuania. Two years later, no one even remembers the origin of the term. Now, Street MMA is a staple in society, something that will remain forever in the English lexicon.
Throughout the years, you’ve seen some of the greatest Street MMA fights on MiddleEasy. Even Strikeforce lightweight champion Gilbert Melendez digs the endlessly entertaining Street MMA videos we post on MiddleEasy.
